Review:
First off I have not read the book. I read the sample but wasn’t compelled enough to purchase it or request it from the library. Came off as too teen for me, I can only take so much angst before my eyes roll out of their sockets. So I watched the movie.
I was pleasantly surprised. I went in with low expectations and now I want to read the books. There were a few places where my eyes were rolling, but the story was still compelling and interesting. I liked that she didn’t have two guys after her like in the Hunger Games.
It moved a little fast in places and I’m assuming there was a lot cut, story wise. The part with the kids jumping off the train and laughing was not cool looking, like I it was supposed to be. There were a few cheesy lines and I didn’t cry when the parents died so I wasn’t invested in the movie emotionally. Still I liked it and I look forward to the next one.
