New Disney Toybox Figures

I’m sorry to anyone who hasn’t yet watched Falcon and Winter Soldier because the new figures contain spoilers.

Captain America Sam Wilson looks really cool. Honestly one of the coolest looking figures to come out so far. Definitely in the Marvel line. Those wings are awesome and I think his face really hits the design of the figures. It’s also really nice to FINALLY have a figure that’s a person of color and you can actually see that. With Black Panther and Miles Morales they’re wearing their masks and there’s no way to tell that they aren’t white. At least with Captain Marvel they provided two heads. I’m pretty happy with this figure.

On the other side of things we’ve got Winter Soldier. They somehow took Sebastian Stan, a ridiculously attractive man, and made him into generic white man number one. Fine, fine it’s not supposed to be Sebastian Stan. I realize that. None of the other figures look like their people either, except for maybe Doctor Strange. Still, this figure lacks personality. Even the quirky eyebrows aren’t enough to help this face. At least the costume is cool looking. Though you can see in this pic the knife is bent so I would be hesitant to buy this online.

It’s been nice to get new Toybox figures tied to the Marvel TV shows on Disney+. It makes marketing sense. The other lines are falling behind on the quantity of figures. Hopefully, when we start getting more Star Wars tv shows we’ll start getting figures again. Even without that Disney still has a fairly deep well of characters they can pull from if they feel like it.

New MARVEL Toybox Figures

We have three new figures! It also appears as though I missed numbers 25 and 26 in the MARVEL line. Maybe they’ll show up soon.

Anyway! Scarlet Witch and Vision make sense after the recent conclusion to Wandavision and I’m happy to see another female figure. However, wtf did they do to Vision? He looks horrible. Wanda has a great facial expression while Vision looks goofy. Not impressed with him.

I actually like the Carnage figure. His mouth is great and even though it’s another Spider-Man figure there’s enough that sets him apart from the others.

The MARVEL line has never been the best at capturing what makes the Toybox line adorable and fun, but at least two of the three seem to be on the right track.

Disney Toybox Re-Issues

It looks like the Disney store has a few re-issues right now. Briefly yesterday The Mandalorian and Child were available. Jango and Toy Story RC Car are also showing up. So if you missed out on them earlier, like I did, then now’s your time.

The Mandalorian and Jango showing up makes me think that someone is reading my blog. If that’s the case…how about a Finn figure? Mace Windu? Some more POC? Maybe some Disney Princesses? You know, if you’re looking for some ideas.

Disney Toybox Darth Vader Reissue

It looks like they’ve reissued Darth Vader. He popped up on the online store today. A quick comparison of the older version shows very little differences. The only thing I noticed was the lights on his chest have a different light pattern. I find it amusing that in their promotional picture it looks like his lightsaber is bent.

With this reissue I’m really hoping that they’ll do the same with Jango and The Mandalorian. It’s probably much more likely to happen with Mando than Jango, but we’ll see. Stranger things have happened with these toys.

Since my last post a few of the other figures have gone on sale. It’s worth a look if you’re missing some that you want.

New Disney Toybox Figures on the Disney Store Website

Just yesterday I posted that Simba and General Grievous had been spotted in stores. Now it looks like them as well as a new Stormtrooper are available. Simba didn’t end up being more expensive than the others. However, General Grievous is $14.99

If you’re looking to pick up any other characters Darth Maul appears to be the only one on sale right now. If you spend $75 or more you’ll get free shipping. So keep that in mind.

Lists will be updated shortly.
