Director:

Trish Sie

Starring:

Anna Kendrick

Rebel Wilson

Brittany Snow

Plot:

Following their win at the world championship, the now separated Bellas reunite for one last singing competition at an overseas USO tour, but face a group who uses both instruments and voices.

Review:

Pretty sure this movie didn’t need to be made. It lacked a lot of what I enjoyed about the previous movies and was honestly a constant barrage of awkward moments. I like Rebel Wilson and her character but her arc was out there.

I can’t remember a single thing I liked about this movie now that I’m thinking back on it. They used the plot device that I hate where it starts off and then flashes back. The characters were all floundering in life and being very foolish. It was just an unnecessary movie.

Trolls (2016)

Mike Mitchell

Starring:

Anna Kendrick

Justin Timberlake

Zooey Deschanel

Plot:

After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the curmudgeonly Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends.

Review:

My daughter has loved all the merchandising for this movie and I’ve loved the songs so I decided to pick this up from Red Box. It’s a cute movie, but I wasn’t expecting the bad guys to be eating the Trolls. That was kind of gruesome for a kid’s movie. You didn’t see anything, but they talked about it.

There were several parts that scared my three year old, but she did love the songs, however by the end she’s lost interest. I liked the Trolls a lot, but could have done without the romance between the two leads. Otherwise, like I said, it was a cute movie.

The Accountant (2016)

Director:

Gavin O’Connor

Starring:

Ben Affleck

Anna Kendrick

J.K. Simmons

Plot:

As a math savant uncooks the books for a new client, the Treasury Department closes in on his activities and the body count starts to rise.

Review:

I’m not sure why I wanted to watch this movie, but from the first time I saw the trailer I wanted too. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed, though, I think I’m the only one.

Affleck didn’t play the best autistic person, but I still liked his character. I was glad that they didn’t make the brother resent him, even though I think the flashbacks were meant to build that expectation. I thought there should have been more there, the “surprise” with the brother was so obvious that it wasn’t needed and they could have just expanded more on their childhood.

I liked the movie, I don’t know if I have to own it, but I would pick it up if I found it cheap one day.

Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)

Director:

Elizabeth Banks

Starring:

Anna Kendrick

Rebel Wilson

Hailee Steinfeld

Plot:

After a humiliating command performance at The Kennedy Center, the Barden Bellas enter an international competition that no American group has ever won in order to regain their status and right to perform.

Review:

I watched the first movie, I know I did, but apparently it was before the website. I vaguely remember liking it and that’s probably how I’m going to remember this one as well.

It was cute. It seemed to have some pacing issues where it was too slow at a couple parts and then sped through others. It’s a lot of people to follow so it’s going to move fast.

Favorite part was the underground acapella competition. Was not expecting to see all those comedians and the Packers, it was a strange combo, and hilarious.

I don’t really think this series needs any more movies, but it looks like they’re making another sequel, so we’ll see what happens.
