Disney Toybox: Frozone and Hulkbuster Set

My trips to the Disney store are starting to become a weekly thing. Sadly, this time I was not able to pick up any figures. However, I did spot Frozone and Hulkbuster!

Frozone looks better than most of the other Incredibles. His face has got a fair amount of character. His uniform is fairly simplistic, already, and the light blue really adds to that. Just based on me pouring over it in the store it’s an excellent figure.

The Hulkbuster set is weighty, with both figures being fairly heavy. Hulkbuster lights up and makes noise and Hulk stands there looking pissed and green. The set was $40, so a bit pricey, but if you missed out on Hulk earlier this is probably the cheapest way to get him and you’ll have Tony Starks Hulkbuster.

Disney Toybox: Buzz Lightyear

I unboxed Buzz a while ago, but he and my other figures got a photo shoot so I thought I’d share my mad photo skills.

Buzz is an awesome figure, but be forewarned if you’re buying him as a toy his jetpack comes off VERY easily and you will lose it and the wings will break. They’re very thin and just begging for little fingers to bend and break them.

His coloring and expression are perfect for the toy. Lots of attitude and teeth, definitely confident in his Star Command position.

He has a lot of posable joints and is easy to stand up on his own. I do wish he had a visor, definitely missing that component. I did have a bit of trouble with one of the knee joints, the plastic was too stiff or something and when it finally bent a bit of plastic that was apparently stuck in the joint came out. Still having issues with that knee but since I’m not playing with it, it’s no big deal.

Buzz is a pretty great figure and I look forward to hopefully being able to complete the Toy Story line. It is one of the older lines so anyone looking to collect will want to snatch them up as they seem them, though, wait. I forgot, they’ve made a collection including Bullseye, so never mind lol. Unless, you want an individual figure. Dum dum dummmmmmmmmm

Disney Toybox Wave 6 Speculation

So what is and isn’t Wave 6 I’m not 100% on because there doesn’t seem to be an official website and different websites say different things and the flyers included with the toys are often wrong.

I was able to find some images of the most recent flyer over on Toy News International forum posted by JayC

There are also images of sets that should already be out. I’ve seen images of the Toy Story set which makes me a bit sad that I bought Buzz already because buying a set would make so much more sense. The rumor is that Frozone and Bullseye both have their own codes so they should be released separate, but they aren’t shown on the lists or grayed out so we’ll have to wait and see. I hope we get them.

Also, wtf is that between Edna and Frozone?

The Star Wars sets look so cool (can you tell I’m a fan lol). Han Solo was going to be my next purchase and I’m glad that I waited. I do wonder how big the Falcon is and if it does anything besides look neat. We’re also shown a Tie Fighter and Pilot set that’s interesting. Other than that, though, there are no clues about what’s coming out for Star Wars next. Yoda is shown, but he should be in stores and be a part of Wave 5.

Based on these images Thanos should be out, though, I haven’t seen him anywhere. They’ve also listed him as #12 but Gray Hulk has been assigned that number. So are we getting Thanos? The speculation on the forum is that the grayed out figures are part of Thanos Black Order and I can certainly see that in the silhouettes, but come on, seriously? We’re getting bad guys before some more female characters? Ugh. Come on Disney.

There also seems to be some sets coming out from Marvel. Hulkbuster and Hulk, so if you’ve missed Hulk when he was originally released you’ve got a second chance to pick him up. Also, Spider-Man and his…Dune Buggy. *eye roll*

The grayed out images for the Disney line seem to be Minnie Mouse and Stich. Minnie makes sense since we’ve got Mickey, but I’m kind of hoping I’ve missed the guess with Stich because that doesn’t really make sense. Is there a new Lilo and Stich movie coming out? A TV show? Seems a bit random.

I’m sure it’s probably the same person or team working on all the lines, but the Star Wars and Pixar lines seem much more thought out than the Marvel and maybe now Disney. I hope I’m wrong, and just based on Google searches it’s entirely possible those silhouettes could be wrong. We’ll just have to wait and see.

As of right now I don’t have a release date for any of the Wave 6 figures.

*UPDATE*

There is going to be a Live Action Lilo and Stich movie so maybe that explains the new Toybox figure? Still seems a bit early, but at least it’s not so completely out of left field.

*2nd UPDATE*

It seems like the Minnie Mouse and Stich images were incorrect because we’ve now got Maui and Moana figures in those spots. So basically, the flyers are nice speculation but take them with a healthy dose of salt.

*3rd Update*

Based on information from the newest insert in the Miles Morales Spider-Man figure it doesn’t appear as though the Black Order or Venom is going to be in the Marvel line. At least for now. This really drives home the point that you can’t count on the grayed out images actually coming out. Though, maybe they’re just delayed.

Disney Toybox Figures: Pixar Toybox

Updated on 11/28/2021

What ultimately sold me on buying these figures was seeing the Toy Story versions, specifically Buzz Lightyear. I loved Leia, but she’s just one figure, Buzz and Woody looked perfect. Buzz had the bright green, the buttons looked good, he even had wings!

Currently, all the figures are available on Disney’s website, but I believe the Toy Story ones could start to be harder to find soon. I’ve been in two Disney stores recently and neither of them had Woody, so anyone looking to collect should keep that in mind. Where I can I’ve included links to Amazon, but pay attention to price when buying there.

Thoughts and Speculation

UPDATED 04/23/2019

My thoughts on the new Toy Story figures are much the same as my original thoughts. I do wonder if Jessie’s face has been altered slightly, but I’m not sure since I haven’t seen it in person. I love the addition of Bo Peep, even if I think her figure looks a little weird.

As to speculation about what’s to come, I haven’t seen any new flyers so I just hope that we get more figures. I’m loving this line, they’re well made and within my price range to collect or let my kids play with.

Original

While I love the look of the Toy Story figures, I’m not as into the Incredibles ones. They don’t have the same personality in their faces, all but Edna are very generic looking. Jack-Jack included in each of them makes sense because of his powers, but isn’t very fun either. I do love that Edna gets a figure, though, I wish Frozone had one as well. Apart from Edna, Violet is the best looking one in my opinion.

Woody’s face looks crazy and I could see some fun pictures being made with him. Buzz has a lot of personality in his face as well, determined and slightly deranged. The fact that his accessory is the jetpack feels like a copout and I would have loved a helmet. Jessie is a dip in quality appearance wise. Her clothes look great, but her face is generic and doesn’t convey her fiery personality at all.

The Pixar series has done a much better job including female characters. We’ve got Jessie, Mrs. Incredible, Violet, and Edna. That’s more than the Star Wars and Marvel lines with fewer released. The lack of female characters in the other series is really highlighted when you look at their figure lines.

I’m curious to see what’s going to come out next in the Pixar line. Posable Cars characters doesn’t really work in my mind, and neither do fish. Maybe Bugs Life is going to make a come back. We could also see some Coco figures which would be great with Halloween coming.

Disney Toybox Figures Epic List

My current obsession. I don’t normally post about things that aren’t books, TV, or movies, and I’ve got a few TV Pilot reviews to write and post, but I just love these figures. I originally posted this on my Tumblr but thought I’d share the posts over here too. Enjoy!

With Disney Infinity no longer a thing Disney decided to take the adorable art style and make straight up toys. As someone who always loved the DI figures I’m very happy with this decision. So far I only have one of the figures, but it is well made, with several moveable joints, a great facial expression, and a removable item. Since, I’m choosing to just sit it there and marvel at it’s wonderfulness I do wish they’d included a stand, Princess Leia ends up leaning against my speaker.

The Disney Toybox toys are in four different collections, currently. Though the above picture only shows three. There is Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, and Disney. They seem to be coming out in waves, and each figure is numbered specifically for their collection.

With a $12.95 price tag they are a bit pricier than a normal child’s toy so it’s obvious that Disney is banking on the collector market with these. They are a quality toy, but even with the Disney brand attached they are still just a toy, so I find it difficult to believe that many parents are buying these for their children.

Here is a list of the released figures for all those, like me, who wish to collect them, I have also included Amazon links at the bottom when I can, just click on the picture of the figure you like. (I will try to keep this list up to date as my obsession continues):
