Review:

After watching The God of Cookery I had to re-watch Kung Fu Hustle. Such a good movie. It starts pretty much immediately, tons of great action and it’s hilarious. Really I shouldn’t have to say more.

Let’s see. Stephen Chow is amazing, perfect timing, similar story line to The God of Cookery in that he experiences a redeeming moment and then does good. Great over the top scenes that are excellently shot. Really you couldn’t ask for more.

Plot:

The most renowned and feared chef in the world loses his title of God of Cookery because of his pompous attitude. Humbled he sets out to reclaim his title.

Review:

The plot synopsis isn’t quite right. I don’t think he becomes humbled until the very end when a certain event happens. Just losing his empire wasn’t enough to do it.

This movie was crazy and I really enjoyed it. There wasn’t much food porn and only a few of the dishes seemed milding appetizing to me so I wouldn’t recommend this for someone looking for that, the focus wasn’t cooking it was like a kung foo version of a Naked Gun movie. Kind of lol.

It did feel a little dated, but only in video quality. I didn’t watch it dubbed, I prefer subtitles, so I don’t know how good the voice acting was. There were a few instances where they would zoom in on something written but there was no translation.

Overall I really liked the movie and it made me want to re-watch Kung Fu Hustle.
