Review:

After four seasons of everything going wrong that could I was a bit afraid of this season. What if it didn’t live up to the others? What if the ending sucked? What if they all died and the world ended?

Well, a lot of people died, lots of tears were shed, everything that could do wrong did, and yet I still loved the ending.

SPOILERS

It was a bit sappy, but I freaking love sappy, especially after all the bad that’s happened to everyone. I was kept guessing up until the last minute, made me really doubt whether or not things would be great or just alright. So glad they went with great.

In order to know if they followed everything exactly and didn’t break any of their own rules I’d have to go back and re-watch the whole series and probably make notes. A lot happened, tons of time travel, lots of rules, and I’m not the most critical of those things, so it’s possible they messed up somewhere. I don’t think they did and if they did it wasn’t hugely obvious so I’m willing to cut them so slack.

I love time travel so I’ll always give it a shot, 12 Monkeys is much darker than I usually like, but it’s got just enough light and hope to not be completely depressing. The main and side characters are great, not too good or bad, flawed but ultimately do the right thing. I really loved the series and I’m glad we got the final season we deserved.

Review:

Season 2 of 12 Monkeys ended with Cassie, Amanda Schull, being captured and held by the weirdos trying to destroy the world from their city sized time traveling hub. She’s pregnant with the Witness and they can’t have anything happen to her. She’s an incubator for their future leader.

Season 3 picks up right where that left off, pretty much, and each episode builds. There is so much going on here and I’m sure if I sat down with a timeline I’d probably find some inconsistencies but I don’t care. It’s entertaining and high stakes and they get just enough victories to make me feel like they might succeed at this thing.

The Witness is born and revealed this season and so much happens on that side of things. You can feel things starting to wrap up and the end nearing. I’m so hoping with this fourth season, that’s currently airing, that we get a satisfying ending. I would love a happy one please, but we’ll see.

Honestly, my only complaint with the season was that Katarina, Barbra Sukowa, was so easily trusting of Olivia, Alisen Down. Katarina is a smart woman and Olivia has never been on their side and now she trusts her? Really? Stupid move, really stupid.

The show is dark but because of the love between the two main characters I’ve always got this hope that things will change. I’m forever complaining about the lack of positive Sci-Fi and this is certainly not positive, but I still enjoy it because of the hope that’s there. The hope that they’ll fix things and make the world better, despite all they’ve been through they all seem to think it’s possible, which makes me think it is, which I guess, in a roundabout sort of way, makes 12 Monkeys positive. Lol. Not really. We’ll see.

Dark Matter Season 3 (2015-2017)

Dark Matter Season 3 (2015-2017)

Network:

SyFy

Starring:

Melissa O’Neil

Anthony Lemke

Alex Mallari Jr.

Plot:

In the dystopian 27th century, six people wake up on a deserted spaceship with no memory of who they are or what they’re doing there. They reluctantly team up and set off to find answers with the help of a female android.

Review:

Why do I even let myself get invested in shows these days? Nothing seems to ever get closure. Everything ends on a cliffhanger and worlds are always hanging in the balance.

I really liked Dark Matter, the crew was interesting, just the right amount of good vs bad. The tech was fun. The world was ruled by evil corporations. There was time travel and alternate dimesions. Seriously, the show had everything I loved and I really enjoyed it.

Kiss of death apparently.

Even though the third season ended on a cliffhanger it had one of my favorite episodes. They travel back in time and get to integrate into our society for an episode. It was fun.

There are a ton of unanswered questions, but even knowing it has been canceled I’ll probably go back and re-watch it because I enjoy it that much. Maybe one day I’ll learn my lesson and just stop watching TV all together.

Starring:

Katherine Barrell

Plot:

Based on the IDW Comic, Wynonna Earp follows Wyatt Earp’s great granddaughter as she battles demons and other creatures. With her unique abilities, and a posse of dysfunctional allies, she’s the only thing that can bring the paranormal to justice.

Review:

It’s hard to miss the similarities between Supernatural and this show, but I love Supernatural so I’m alright with that. Wynonna is messed up, but can kick ass, and I want her jacket and boots. Her sister seems like the brainy one, I wish you could merge the two, but whatever. The fight scenes looked bad, but what can you expect.

Overall, I like the concept a lot, I hope they put a lot of work into the history of things. I desperately want to have a SyFy show in my routine, I miss Eureka and Warehouse 13, so this has been added.
