Disney Toybox: Shadow Trooper & R2-Q5

We’ve got a new stormtrooper in the Disney Toybox Star Wars line. They are some of my favorite figures, even though they aren’t the best at standing up. This one is less stylized than past ones, but I feel they’ve been moving away from the original Disney Infinity look. Which is a bummer as that’s what originally got me started collecting them.

This is considered a two-figure set, so because of that, it’s more expensive than others. The new price of $26.99 is ridiculous in my opinion, though. Since it’s Star Wars and pretty cool looking it could disappear from the online store fast. If it doesn’t, I expect it to drop in price fairly quickly. Depending on how many they made I don’t see a lot of people spending that much on a stormtrooper, no matter how cool looking.

On the back of the box, there’s a picture of a Boba Fett and Stormtrooper pack. The stormtrooper looks like one that’s already been released. However, the Boba Fett looks different from the previous one.

I’m still a bit shocked at that price. I realize we’ve had supply shortages, but that seems crazy. For comparison, the Ashoka Tano and Captain Rex set is only $18.99. I hope this isn’t a new price point because I will definitely not be continuing my collection at that price.

New Disney Toybox Figures

In time for Halloween we’ve got a new Jack Skellington figure and a double pack of Miguel and Héctor. This time Miguel has no face paint, so he is different. Héctor looks the same, though, he doesn’t come with his hat or guitar.

I love the first Jack figure, but it was sold out before I started collecting and I wasn’t able to purchase the original reissue. Not sure if I’ll splurge and get this one either. Especially since it looks like they’re going to be releasing a Captain Carter figure soon. Still, once again nice to see new figures, especially in the neglected Disney and Pixar lines.

All lists have been updated.

Disney Toybox Jessie and Bullseye

There’s a new Jessie in town. This is our third iteration of her, though, she looks pretty much the same as the others. This is also the first Pixar figure in half a year if not more. If you weren’t able to or didn’t want to shell out the money for the Toy Story collection this will be a cheaper way to get Bullseye, though the two figures are one of the more expensive at $18.99.

It doesn’t look like they’ve fixed the hat issue Jessie and Woody have had, so keep that in mind if you decide to buy.

Personally, I believe they had extras and decided to repackage, but I have no way to confirm that. Oh well, enjoy.

New Disney Toybox Figures 10-26-2020

New Figures! These are all ones that I’ve previously mentioned on the blog, but they are now all, finally, showing up in the store. IMO Sorcerer Mickey is the best one, however I wish they’d kept the style from the Disney Infinity Figure. I’m hoping that they release a special one like they did with the game as well.

Searching and comparing the Disney Infinity figure with the Toybox one was a mistake. They’ve changed the style way too much and it’s not nearly as cute anymore.

Overall, I still believe that the Star Wars line has kept to the art style the best. Marvel has always been more hit or miss, but there have been a lot more misses lately. The newest Disney figures from Coco were great, but the Peter Pan and Hook figures look like regular figures. As a fan it’s disappointing.

The Toybox line started out adorable, carrying on the torch of Disney Infinity beautifully, after it was canceled. The art style was unique and the price point was acceptable. Along the way something has changed. I don’t know what it is, but I hope things are corrected and we return to what I originally loved about the figures.

All of my lists have been updated with the new figures. I’m still missing a couple numbers on the Disney list. I honestly have no idea what I could have missed so if someone knows please let me know so I can add them.

New Toybox Set

This isn’t like the other toy sets that have come out. This is a working RC Car that the Toy Story Toybox figures will fit on. Kind of random, but it’s something. I guess.

SuperSorrell has also posted a Ghost Spider unboxing video. She’s not yet appearing on the Disney Store online. Her box shows her as #24 so there are two figures between her and Venom that I haven’t seen. She looks cool and I’m always happy to see more female characters.

There have been a lot of new additions to the Toybox line in the last few days. It’s exciting, especially The Mandalorian yesterday. Some of the older figures are also on sale at the Disney store if anyone is interested in them. I’ve recently become a Disney affiliate so the links at the top and bottom of my Toybox pages are affiliate links.

As always, I’ll keep posting updates as I notice them.
