What Happened to Monday (2017)
In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own.
After watching the trailer I was hoping for more of an action based movie about sisters that work seamlessly together to thwart their government. That’s close to the exact opposite of what I got.
About a third of the way through I realized I would not be getting a super happy ending and then just over halfway through I figured out what was going on but continued watching in the hopes I was wrong. I was not and it was a bit depressing.
The movie did end on a slightly positive note for the sisters, but for the world as a whole it was pretty negative.
The acting was good, so at least it had that going for it.
Mr. Bean’s Holiday (2007)
Emma de Caunes
Mr. Bean wins a trip to Cannes where he unwittingly separates a young boy from his father and must help the two come back together. On the way he discovers France, bicycling, and true love, among other things.
I love Mr. Bean, I still laugh every time I see my favorite episodes of his show. I don’t remember being very impressed with the Mr. Bean movie from 1997, but saw this on Netflix and thought why not.
While not as bad as the 1997 movie, it still didn’t capture what I enjoy so much about Mr. Bean. I think the character might just work better in a shorter format. An entire movie with his antics can grow boring and tedious. There were several scenes that I laughed at and tons of awkward hard to watch moments, but I also spent a lot of time not paying attention to the movie cause I was bored.
I think I’ll just stick to watching the Mr. Bean TV show episodes and stay away from any further movies.
In a California desert town, a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.
I’m ashamed to say that they got me with that ending. I was so sure that the person that did end up dying in the end was going to die and then it looked like they didn’t but they had. I forgot his powers. It just meant that the ending got me more emotionally than it should have.
Good movie. Good story. Would love a sequel or maybe a TV show like one review I read mentioned. Have added the book to my never ending To Read list.
