I’m a twenty-one year old virgin and I have a battery operated boyfriend. My magic is iffy at best and downright dangerous at worst. Leaving Hell to represent my race is not high on my list of things to do. Hell was exact. Hell was simple. All I want to do is get to home base with the hotter than Hades Demon of my dreams and work on my dark side so Satan, my dad, will get off my ass. Instead I end up in Kentucky looking for the Balance of Chaos, avoiding pole dancing classes with Mother Nature and finding out my invisible friend is a silver skinned destructive weather pattern. And if that isn’t craptastic enough, the damn Sword of Death is missing again and who ever has it wants the King of the Underworld dead. Seriously. With new powers emerging daily, keeping my Demon side, horniness and general disgust under wraps doesn’t make it any easier to fit in with the humans. Thankfully my priorities are in line; get laid…save world…try not to blow up kitchen appliances…and get laid again. I was ready to rumble. All I want to do is go back to Hell, but with the balance of good and evil in my hands, I’m stuck in the garden of Eden. Oh well, what the Hell. Someone has to save the world before there’s no world left to save. Might as well be me.

Review:

Dixie was very similar to Astrid, though, she didn’t quiet curse as much or as creatively. She did get better at the end when she accepted her full self. The series really is about accepting who you are completely, good and bad.

Astrid lost her mom and dad in the first book, but since then no one really impactful dies. If you’re bad you’re going to get your shit ripped apart, but if you’re good or the main character likes you, you get to live. Honestly it doesn’t really bother me, but know going in that this is definitely a light urban fantasy/paranormal book. You’re not going to be faced with huge all consuming darkness. Of course the title and covers should give that away.

I like the series. It’s cute and a great summer read. The next book is the book I’ve really been looking forward to, though. Astrid has a baby that shouldn’t be possible so I’m excited to see what happens.

Vampyres don’t exist. They absolutely do not exist. At least I didn’t think they did ‘til I tried to quit smoking and ended up Undead. Who in the hell did I screw over in a former life that my getting healthy equates with dead? Now I’m a Vampyre. Yes, we exist whether we want to or not. However, I have to admit, the perks aren’t bad. My girls no longer jiggle, my ass is higher than a kite and the latest Prada keeps finding its way to my wardrobe. On the downside, I’m stuck with an obscenely profane Guardian Angel who looks like Oprah and a Fairy Fighting Coach who’s teaching me to annihilate like the Terminator. To complicate matters, my libido has increased to Vampyric proportions and my attraction to a hotter than Satan’s underpants killer rogue Vampyre is not only dangerous . . . it’s possibly deadly. For real dead. Permanent death isn’t on my agenda. Avoiding him is my only option. Of course, since he thinks I’m his, it’s easier said than done. Like THAT’S not enough to deal with, all the other Vampyres think I’m some sort of Chosen One. Holy Hell, if I’m in charge of saving an entire race of blood suckers, the Undead are in for one hell of a ride.

Review:

I’m not a huge fan of clothes so I never love books with main characters constantly drooling over certain designers. Oddly enough I love watching Project Runway, but whatever.

Other than a huge obsession with Prada and a need to describe every outfit she puts on, I liked Astrid. She was strong, wasn’t stupid, and was incredibly loyal to her friends and family.

The world was interesting, however I did think some things weren’t thought through. Astrid was trying to stop smoking so she goes to get hypnotized and is then turned into a vampire. She then isn’t able to smoke because she no longer can breath and yet she sure talks a lot.

Oh well. I don’t require science in my fantasy.

The book was compelling and I’m intrigued enough to continue on to the next.

Plus, she knew her dog wasn’t exactly a dog. Witches and explosions, a murderous mother escaped from jail, half-mad members of human-only groups, the evil Niccolo Maddock, and the gynecologist from hell all add up to make Marcie’s life just like the Chinese curse: it is better to live as a rat in a cage of cats than it is to be a vampire anywhere.

Review:

Well a lot happened in this book but not as much as I wanted. There are still so many unanswered questions and I want some answers damnit. Marcie goes to get answers but she always stops short of getting a full explanation. She gets overwhelmed and backs off and I just want to know more.

Marcie got to kick some Maddock butt and the ending left me wanting more. Marcie isn’t my favorite heroine, I wish she’d get on the ball and learn more. She always seems to get caught up in her emotions and I wish she’d be more proactive instead of letting Dan take care of things. Oddly enough she gets annoyed when he does but doesn’t seem to do much about it, except attacking him once.

Looking forward to the next book.

Nor was this whole transformation thing starting off the way it was supposed to for Marcie Montgomery. She was hungry all the time – not for blood, but tacos and french fries and cheeseburgers, oh my. Then there was Niccolo Maddock, the Master Vampire who was acting as her mentor. Just what did he want? Going from being an insurance adjuster to a vampire could confuse the most level headed person and Marcie had always considered herself a pragmatist. Even when she was faced with relatives who weren’t who they’d always been, witches who were out to annihilate her, and the stunning knowledge of her own powers. Add in werewolves, shape shifters, and other Brethren and life in South Texas suddenly became very complicated. When Marcie discovered she alone could transform the vampire race, she was faced with a choice: to embrace who she was or change her destiny. Why should anything be easy?

Review:

I am not the biggest fan of vampire books. I’ve certainly read my share, but I burned out on them quicker than the rest of the world apparently. That being said the title Fertile Vampire caught my eye and after reading the sample I had to read more.

The story was fairly fast paced and I loved the fact that Marcie sought revenge for what was done to her. There were a few slower places while she moped but they were understandable considering all that was going on.

I felt sorry for Marcie and the fact that she didn’t have anyone really in her corner. She was at times annoying, but for the most part I liked her. I was definitely jealous of her ability to eat constantly and not gain weight.

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Bringing my allies together as war approaches is my number one concern. But that means I have to play nice with a vampire who is blackmailing me. If I don’t, I’m screwed and my family is dead. But I don’t play nice. And I have a backup plan. Kinda. Throw in some new weapons being developed that work around supernaturals and I have more problems than I can handle on my own. Good thing I have a kick ass team. Even if they are on the other side of the world from me.

Review:

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to read so I decided to pick up where I’d left off with Rylee. I think my enjoyment of the book suffered from my apathy and while I still liked the book I didn’t enjoy it as much as previous installments.

I’d forgotten what happened at the end of book 6 so it took me a couple chapters to catch up. I also thought that the vampire resolution seemed a bit too easy.

Faris still hasn’t gotten what I feel he deserves and she was even able to find a way around backing him for vampire leader. Once that was fixed it was like he was no longer a dick. Maybe not, we’ll see.

I’m not a fan of super dark books, however, if the story calls for it by all means. Rylee has this huge big bad coming and needs to gather allies but I feel like this book ignored relationships built in previous books and ended with a previous bad guy becoming good,but not by doing anything really redeeming.

Maybe I’m being unfair, there was plenty of darkness in the book, but most of it was the characters coping with tragic deaths in the previous book and alluding to future tragedy.

I still want to know what’s going to happen and I still plan on reading further, but I think I’m going to wait until I’m in a better mood.
