Spider-Man Crime Lab Play Set

So we’ve got a new Spider-Man set. It looks more interesting than past ones, but I find it difficult to get excited about another one. At least we’ve now got a Peter Parker figure, not just another Spider-Man.

Sorry, I’ve got a horrible headache. Have fun.

Disney Toybox Gift Sets

This morning I checked the Disney store and there were new gift sets and play sets. Mickey Mouse and Friends, Spider-Man Figure Set, Slave I, and Zurg’s Lair.

Zurg’s Lair comes out of nowhere. It’s been a while since we’ve had any Toy Story figures released, there hasn’t been a new movie or even a short, so I definitely wasn’t expecting it. Slave I was less of a surprise, especially after the most recent Mandalorian episode.

The Mickey Mouse set is $50. Since none of the figures appear to be showing up in the Disney Store anymore, if you missed any of them this would be the time to pick them up. You’re not really saving any money, though, so if you find them individually it would be cheaper.

I believe this is the first time that Spider-Hulk has been available. So if you’re trying to collect all the Hulks this might end up being the only way. The TIE Fighter pilot has yet to be available any other way than the set. So if you want Spider-Pig or Zurg, this might be the easiest way for you.

With Christmas coming it’s not much of a surprise that these are being released now. These are pretty expensive sets, ranging from $35-50. This is going to be a very tight year, financially, for a lot of people, unless they decide to put these on sale I’m not sure how many people will splurge for them.

Disney Toybox: Captain Marvel, Wolverine, and Spider-Man

We FINALLY have Captain Marvel!! I am so excited about this and can’t wait to buy her. Probably the biggest surprise, though, was the addition of the first X-Men character, Wolverine. There is also a new Spider-Man figure. All of these are currently available on their store.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel comes with two heads and Goose, as well as tentacles for Goose. She looks perfect and I’m ridiculously excited. Her outfit is cool, her hair is cool, and omg Goose!

Wolverine

I was not expecting Wolverine at all. They must have either been already working on him or rushed him through development. I love that he comes with a cowboy hat and katana. He’s also wearing his classic uniform so I’m hoping that means that we’ll get some cartoon style Storm, Gambit, and Rogue. It’s hard not to get my hopes up for those.

As far as Marvel figures got Wolverine seems to be on the good side of things. I’ve complained about the Marvel figures before because often times they come off as cheap and not as filled with character. Wolverine has got a nice almost smirk in his unmasked face with thick brows, and he’s also got a good hostile face in the masked version. All in all I thought they did a good job with him.

Spider-Man Far From Home

This is the third Spider-Man figure. While the costumes have all been slightly different the mold appears to be the same and the accessory is the same. I believe this is the Far From Home costume, but if not someone correct me. Honestly, not much to say about this one.

Disney has stopped including flyers in the boxes of these toys so it’s impossible to know what they’re going to release. I don’t believe anyone was expecting Wolverine or another Spider-Man. It will be interesting to see what they come out with next.

My wish for future additions to the entire line is definitely more female characters. If they ever started adding Disney Princesses I’d freak out. The art style is made for the princesses in my opinion. The Star Wars line is my favorite line and with a new movie coming out later this year I hope they’ve got some planned for release. Maybe a General Leia or for gods sake finally give us a Finn.

This series has got a ton of potential and almost limitless characters and material to pull from. I look forward to seeing what they give us.

Review:

I was told by the entire world to watch this movie, which I’m grateful for because I had not even heard of it until my Twitter blew up about it and suddenly people who couldn’t agree on anything were agreeing this movie was amazing.

Sadly, I had to wait until Red Box got it, but then I ended up buying it immediately because damnit, it is just that good.

Miles Morales, Shameik Moore, is a teenager just starting a new preppy school and life kind of sucks right now in an angsty teenage way. Then, when he’s getting his groove back, a spider bites him and his super powered existence begins.

Just when things are starting to look up, the original Spider-Man is going to teach him everything he needs to know, things again get shaken up, and he’s all on his own. His father has made it clear that he’s not a Spider-Man fan, but I truly believe if Miles had gone to him it would have been alright. He was clearly a supportive father that loved his son deeply, though, he probably wouldn’t have let him participate in the whole multiverse thing.

I bet if he’d told his dad his dad would have insisted he go and do the thingie that had to be done with the goober and he would have died instead of who died and we still would have had a Spider-Man origin story, but damn this one was SO much better than that.

Anyway, I love that Miles has a loving and supportive mother and father. I do wonder if his dad figured out who he was there at the end. Lily Tomlin as Aunt May is something I had no idea the world needed until now and I hope she is in future movies because she was great.

Have I mentioned the art? Holy fucking shit it was incredible. It was mind boggling good. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something that looked so amazing, definitely not a full length movie. It was just…hold on I need to go watch it again.

If you haven’t seen Into the Spiderverse for whatever reason, watch it. It deserved every award it received, it deserved all the hype, it was so.good.

Look What’s Showing up on the Disney Store!

During a random late night check of the Disney Store website I was surprised to find that they’ve updated and there are a couple new Toybox Figures!

Spider-Man Miles Morales

First, Spider-Man Miles Morales is finally showing up on the store. I haven’t seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse yet, but I’ve only heard amazing things so I’m glad they finally put the figure in the store. Once again, it looks like the standard Spider-Man figure already released with a different paint job, but if you’re a Spider-Man fan does it really matter?

Iron Man

Iron Man is the surprise Marvel reveal. He’s also listed as number 15.

Iron Man has a new paint scheme, he looks much nicer, but he’s got the same accessory. Unless you prefer the new paint I don’t see a reason to double dip. However, if you missed the first release, now’s your chance!

Stich and Minnie Mouse were both guessed based on the images in the flyers. For once, those images seemed to be true! Stich comes with a surf board and gun and has his token crazy grin. Just based on the images in the store he looks as good as you could expect.

Minnie Mouse includes her cat Figaro, her face also seems to be lacking in the character I like in these figures. She’s looking up away from her cat and just seems kind of eh. A bit disappointed with her.

Still, it was nice to see some surprise additions to the Toybox figures. Right now, at least with the Marvel line, it feels like they’re padding their numbers. We’ve got two new reskins, which while nice, kind of keeps up the lackluster offerings Marvel is giving the Toybox collection.

If anyone has seen these in stores I would definitely be interested in knowing if there’s a new flyer and if so, are there new images?!?
